IntroductionSinceeconomicreformandopening,Chinahascreatedamirac1eof1ong-termrapideconomicgrowth,providingaso1idfoundationforachievingthetargetofbui1dingamoderate1yprosperoussocietyina11respects.1ookingback,China'straditiona1economicdeve1opmentmode1raisesacontroversia1issue,the1ong-standinguGDPcu1t."Economicdeve1opmentgoa1sfocusheavi1yoneconomicoutputbutturnab1indeyetoenvironmenta1degradationandnatura1resourcedep1etion,1eadingtoa1ong-termcontradictionbetweeneconomicgrowthandgreendeve1opment.TakingCO?emissionsasanexamp1e,the1atestreportbytheWor1dResourcesInstitute(WRI)suggeststhatChina'scarbonemissionshaveincreaseddramatica11yfrom2.89bi11iontonsin1990to12.06bi11ionionsin2019.Suchadrasticincreaseposesadauntingcha11engetomeetingthecarbonpeakandneutra1itygoa1swhi1eachievinggreeneconomicdeve1opment.Facedwiththeincreasing1ysevereprob1emofgreendeve1opment,Chinathenstartedpromotinggreentransformation.Inthe18thNationa1CongressoftheCommunistPartyofChina,thecountryincorporatedeco1ogica1civi1ization''intotheovera111ayoutoftheconstructionofsocia1ismwithChinesecharacteristicsandproposedthet4Beautifu1ChinaInitiative/'The20thNationa1CongressoftheCommunistPartyofChinain2023furtherproposedpromotingthegreatrejuvenationoftheChinesenationina11respectsthroughChinesc-sty1emodernization,inwhichtheharmoniouscoexistenceofmanandnatureisoneofthefivecharacteristicsofChinese-Sty1emodernization.Startingfromthe13thFive-YearP1an,Chinahasproposedto1eadovera11deve1opmentwiththenewdeve1opmentconceptofinnovation,coordination,greenness,openness,andsharing.Sincethen,greendeve1opmenthasbeentreatedasthekeytoso1vingtheprob1emofharmoniouscoexistencebetweenmanandnature.Itfurtherpromotesgreentransformationinthepreventionandcontro1ofenvironmenta1po11ution,theimprovementofecosystemdiversity,stabi1ityandsustainabi1ity,andthepromotionofcarbonpeakandcarbonneutra1ity.Withtheimprovementof1ivingstandards,thepub1ic'sdemandforagreenenvironment,greenproducts,andgreenconsumptionhasincreasedsignificant1y,furtherstrengtheningtheendogenouspowerofgreendeve1opment.1ookingahead,Chinasti11encounterssomecha11engesinpromotinggreendeve1opmentinthenewjourneyofbui1dingamoderncountryina11respects.First,inre1ationtothegoa1ofreachingthe1eve1ofmoderate1ydeve1opedcountriesintermsofpercapitaGDPby2035,Chinasti11needstomaintainmedium-1o-high-speedeconomicgrowth,puttingtremendouspressureonenergyconsumptionaswe11ascarbonreduction.Second,theenergysectoristhemostsignificantsourceofcarbonemissions.Thenation,sendowmentstructuredeterminesthatcoa1consumptionaccountsforare1ative1yhighproportionoftheenergysupp1y.Topromotegreendeve1opment,an“energyrevo1ution“mustbepromoted.Third,thec1eanupoftheindustria1sectoristhekeytocarbonmitigationandpo11utionreduction.Thedeve1opmentoftherea1economysti11restsonthemanufacturingindustry'skeepingupagoodpaceinitsgrowth.Itisnecessarytocoordinateindustry'sgreentransformationanditscompetitiveness.Fourth,inthenewstageofpromotingcommonprosperity,narrowingthegapbetweenurbanandrura1areasmeansthattheincomeandconsumptionofrura1residentsinareaswithre1ative1ypooreconomicdeve1opmentwi11increaserapid1y,posinganothernewcha11engetogreendeve1opment.Theon1ywaytodea1withthesecha11engesistoimp1ementthenewdeve1opmentperspective.Promotingtheinnovativeapp1icationofgreentechno1ogyisin1inewiththerequirementsofthetwoconcepts
