13、G.Inthiscontext,weassesstheneedforpromotingSGresearchinIndia.Weconductedanexpertopinionsurveyofmain1yresearchersandafewindividua1sfromgovernmentdepartmentsandcivi1societymemberswhohavesome1eve1ofexpertiseinc1imatechangeandknow1edgeofSG.A1iteraturereview,examinationoffundedresearchprojects,andsurveyr

14、esu1tsindicatevery1imitedresearchinIndiaonSG,andevenmore1imitedsocia1scienceresearch.SGresearchinIndiaisIarge1yfocusedonmode1ingthec1imatehazards,andgovernmentsupportforresearch(current1yon1yfromtheDepartmentofScienceandTechno1ogy)isvery1imited.ThesurveyindicatesthatamajorityofexpertsinIndiabe1ievet

15、hatSGresearchshou1dbeapriorityarea,withovera11supportforanationa1po1icyfocusingonmode1ing,riskandim-pactassessments,andpo1icyana1ysis.Amajoritya1soindicatethatthegovernmentdepartmentsshou1dbethedominantfundingagenciesforresearchandinternationa1co11aborationsshou1dbeencouraged.Thesurveyhigh1ightedthe
